Looking for a long psychedelic space trip ? Stop and buy the latest release by Electric Orange.
These German Krauts did it again. These guys built their own recording studio which gives them the freedom to work on their music whenever they want and how long they want. This band, founded in 1992, just produce the music they like without any commercial restrictions.
This does not mean that the band is looking for noise, soundscapes, technical guitar masturbation and personal satisfaction. No , what you get are well crafted songs in the tradition of Can, early Floyd, Zappa, Kyuss and some other Stonerrockbands. This spaced out collective simply offers you a wonderful musical trip, nothing more but certainly nothing less. I really enjoyed this album and while this cd is spinning , I am still discovering some musical highlights in this “space diamond”. The music is so layered and the songs so well crafted and composed that this release deserves your attention. As for as I am concerned, this is one of the best releases in its genre.

Zin in een psychedelische trip van ruim 77 minuten? Twijfel niet langer en koop jezelf de nieuwe cd van Electric Orange. Deze Duitse Krautrockers hebben het toch maar weer eens mooi geflikt. Reeds sinds 1992 verblijden deze heren ons met lange soundscapes in de traditie van Can en de vroegere Floyd. Deze jongens beschikken dan ook over een eigen opnamestudio en dit geeft hen de mogelijkheid om steeds te jammen wanneer zij dat willen en hoelang zij dat willen. Er is geen druk van enige platenfirma, er is geen commercieel verwachtingspatroon en er is ook geen financiële tijdsdruk om alles op te nemen binnen een bepaalde tijdsduur. De band doet gewoon haar zin en doet precies waar de heren goed in zijn: de luisteraar meenemen op een lange spacetrip.
Mellotrons, orgels, fluiten, gitaren, samples …. vliegen je om de oren. Let wel : de jongens brengen steeds SONGS. Dit is geen oeverloos zelfbevredigend gezwam en gejam waar enkel de heren zelf iets aan hebben, NEEN , dit zijn songs die vakkundig zijn samengesteld en steeds in dienst staan van de luisteraar !
Tussen alle loops en bezwerende mellotrons wordt er ook gezongen. Deze zang doet vaak “Zappa-esque” aan en is doorspekt met Duitse humor: maffe one-liners die worden herhaald tot ze in je hersenpan kruipen om er nooit meer uit te komen.
Deze cd is zo gelaagd en spannend dat je aandacht werkelijk geen moment verzwakt.
Een space trip? Absoluut. Maar verduiveld goed gemaakt. Wat mij betreft 1 van de betere releases van de laatste jaren in het genre. Kraut is the new loud ! Viel spass !
