Anyone who thinks there is no good music coming out of the French speaking part of Belgium is wrong. Turn on your radio and just count how many songs from this part of Belgium make it on the playlist of your local radio station. Exactly, you can count them on the fingers of one hand. And that is a pity. That’s why we, at Rock Advice, want to bring this band under your attention. The Aim is a band right out of the Belgian capital and deserves your attention. We already brought you an interview with the bands label ‘Moonzoo Music’. And now we want to focus on the labels best band ‘The Aim’. This band just released their debut album ‘Emergency’. The band went into the studio with Roland De Greef. This golden boy from the Belgian music scene (Machiavel) was responsible for the mixing and the mastering. A lot of effort (time and money) has been put into this debut album. The band spent over 500 hours into to studio. The sound of the album is warm and rich. “Anyone can discuss the quality of the songs, but the production and the sound can never be an item of debate”, told us the bands label.
The music of The Aim can best be described as a blend of The Police and U2 with a slight prog touch. Most of the songs are catchy and just fit into any playlist. Let us hope that also Flemish radio stations will pick up the band and give them some airplay.
Creative mastermind in this Brussels pop rock trio is Guillaume Corpard. He is not only the bands vocalist but also plays the guitars and keys. (‘Springs to Come’ contains some fantastic guitars) Also Guilaume’s English is excellent.
It would be a shame if this release would be ignored. This album not only deserves a listen, but also fits into any music collection.
This is without any doubt an album that is highly recommended. If you like good rock music and catchy songs, this just might be the album you are looking for.

Je hoort vaak dat de Belgische muziek momenteel hoge toppen scheert. Wie dan denkt dat er enkel goede muziek gemaakt wordt in Vlaanderen vergist zich. Ook over de taalgrens worden er fijne songs in elkaar gestoken. Het is daarom dubbel jammer dat er relatief weinig aandacht wordt besteed aan wat er over de taalgrens gebeurt. Daar willen wij bij Rock Advice even verandering in brengen. Eerder verscheen er op onze site een interview met de heren achter het label Moonzoo Music. De hoogste tijd om ook eens een band uit de stal van deze pioniers te bespreken. Wij kozen voor The Aim. Deze band wordt zelf door de heren van Moonzoo naar voor geschoven als de vaandeldragers van het label en als het paradepaardje dat voor de nodige naambekendheid moet zorgen. En het dient gezegd. The Aim bezit heel wat kwaliteiten om echt door te breken. Met een pak goede songs onder de gordel trokken de heren de studio in onder de vakkundige leiding van Roland De Greef. Het resultaat mag er wezen. De muziek van The Aim laat zich het best omschrijven als een mix van The Police en U2 overgoten met een melodisch prog sausje. Er is duidelijk zeer veel aandacht (lees: tijd en geld) gestoken in het geluid. De cd klinkt enorm rijk en warm. Het management vertelde ons eerder dat men kan discussiëren over smaken, maar dat het album in ieder geval internationaal moet klinken. (Er werd meer dan 500 uur doorgebracht in de studio). Een missie waarin The Aim met brio is geslaagd. Het is nu enkel te hopen dat ook de Vlaamse media deze band durven en willen oppikken.
Creatief brein achter dit Brussels power rock trio is Guillaume Corpard. Hij tekende voor alle songs. Bovendien neemt hij alle gitaarpartijen en vocalen voor zich. Ook een sterke troef voor de band is het perfecte Engels van Corpard. Bij heel wat Franstalige bands hoor je soms tenenkrommend Engels die danig op je lachspieren durft werken. Niets daar van bij The Aim. Prima. Het zou echt jammer zijn moest deze release onopgemerkt voorbij gaan. Dit album verdient niet enkel een luisterbeurt, maar ook een plaats in elke kast van ieder rechtgeaard muziekliefhebber. The Aim schiet met hun debuut ‘Emergency’ goed raak. Warm aanbevolen.
