English:

This time a little lesser god from Moonjune records. Until now they did quite well. Their offering of RIO, Canterbury and prog this year was actually quite good. Well, one shouldn’t bet on only one horse (sorry, did I said god before?), so there will be disappointments and lost races once in a while. Canadian Mahogany Frog is one of them, on their fifth album “DO5”. It is just too bombastic, over the top dramatic and too often too repetitive. Add to this the lacking of really good tunes and of the necessary level of smooth production and arrangements. They play technically very well of course: quite energetic and at times inventive, but that’s just not enough!

This album consists mostly of a loud fusion, with some moments of heavy guitar arbeid. Well, it has some light points, such as an almost ambient tune in the start of “T-Tigers & Toasters” and a western-like tune in “Last Stand at Fisher Farm”.

To be honest, I find it even difficult to get to the end of this not very long record.
